Blue Van - "A Session with the Blue Van" (Denmark 2003)

Uploaded to Aural Innovations: December 2003

This is a new Danish band whom I saw play a great concert recently opening for Baby Woodrose. The 4 piece band recorded this CD live in the studio and it really captures an authentic 60’s sound. The bands CD is set up like a vintage 60’s release. The opening track, "The Blouverture", starts like a TV soundtrack from the 60’s before the pounding drums of Kinks inspired I Remember the Days kicks in. The "Remains Of Sir Mason" has a distorted vocal and the Hammond organ really take you back to the 60’s. "What The Young People Want" is a gem of a party song for one of those psychedelic 60’s parties. The CD closes with "New Slough" and the band stretch out for a bit of a more loose groove. Yes... it’s retro and yes it’s cool...
