The Davolinas - Demo 2003 (Denmark)

Uploaded to Aural Innovations: December 2003

Two chicks and one guy kicking ass. That’s what the bio says! Simple, stoned and scruffy. This new Danish band have recorded one demo previously. Lene, on lead vocals and guitars, leads the band. The opening track, "Sunday Morning" has a slow heavy groove and great melody. Lene’s vocals remind me of Debra from the Brain Surgeons. She sings well but it is a special voice. "Your Sleepy Days Are Through" is a more hard driving rock song. "Stormy Street" is another slow stoned song with a chorus, "Blow your mind out, in Story Street!". I can really imagine a really cool wah guitar during this song. Anja lays down a solid, heavy bass, while Per lays down a steady beat for the riffs to lay upon. The demo ends with "City Of Vinyl". I really like the bass line in this song. This is a great foot stomper of a song. This is quite a good demo but I really miss some lead guitars or weird sounds in the mid sections where the band is rockin! I will report back on this band in the future for sure! Cool stuff.
