Instruction Shuttle - "Open Sad Circuit"
(Zenapolae 2003, ZEN005)
Uploaded to Aural Innovations: October 2003
Here’s what you are not going to find on the Open Sad Circuit record:
Chord progressions.
Drums er, traditional instruments.
The words, “Baby” or “I need you”.
Rap.
Emo whining.
Structure, musically speaking.
“Phat beats”
“Ill loops”
And so on.
Here’s what find:
The answer question, “What happens if I put this abstract sound with another equally abstract sound?”
The answer of course is a well-rounded release by Instruction Shuttle.
Hats off to Zenapolae of Jersey for putting this album out. Zenopolae is the label you wish you had pushing you, with artists like Shuttle and Paul Edwards.
If you like Aphex Twin, 1979, and Autchere you are going to fall deeply in love with Instruction Shuttle. Open Sad Circuit combines the most unusual twitches, glitches, pops and cracks and the end result is a 13-track sound scape that’ll leave you shaking your head in amazement.
Very cool stuff here. Please add my name to the Zenapolae mailing list.
Peace.
