Taura - "Taura"
(Gibbon Records 2002, CDEP)

Uploaded to Aural Innovations: October 2003

Taura hail from Argentina and state on their web page the influence of Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA), Kyuss and Alice in Chains. The opening track, "Correcaminos", sounds exactly like QOTSA. Hell, I would have thought it was them if I did not know better. "Jenizaro" has a heavier riff but the vocal delivery is similar. They even try to use similar guitar harmony lines. What is going on???? "Muelle" ends the CD and it starts as a ballad but then a heavy floating riff takes over. This was the best song on the CD but still this young band has a long way to go. If you want to hear a band that tries to be a QOTSA cover band, check this one out!
