Morpheus - "For A Second" (Garden Of Delights 2002, 068)
Uploaded to Aural Innovations: January 2004
Hailing from Warburg, Germany the band apparently released a sole lp titled 'Rabenteuer' in 1976. Without help from any label or promotional agency, the album sold itself. In 2002, three Morpheus members guitarist/synth player Gerald Adler, bassist Peter Blomeke and saxist Heinrich Holtgreve reunited to record the 'For A Second' disc, an hour's worth of top grade jazzy progressive rock. Most notable tracks would be "Minimal Hip", "Funkturm", "Spleep" and the outstanding 21-minute epic "Puzzle Suite"(the disc's best tune). 'For A Second' features plenty of creative jazz grooves, mood changes and a few surprises as well. Includes a 32-page very informative booklet that's easy to remove and put back. How does Garden Of Delights do it? Should appeal to fans of mid-' 70's Gong, early Kraan and Soft Machine or just any true fan of the Avant Garde genre.
