Itäväylä - "Itävälyä"

This is a new Finnish band and Itäväylä is the name of the road that leads from Sörnäinen to the notorious Eastern Helsinki. The band is a 3 piece that plays strange deep down dirty psychedelic blues and strange electronic memorization rock! Every track is very different on this record and could be a different band almost. Black Diamond Express opens side A and features what sounds like a husky black American on vocals. This is a great foot stomping strange blues number. Down and Dirty! Tesco is totally different and a repetitive Circle like electronic groove is performed. Very cool stuff. Side B begins with the long Future Boogie which begins with some Hawkwind style wind effects before getting into the blues boogie again with the spacey sounds coming in and out and some cool synth fills as well. Jeesus Kristus ends the record and is a very far out song that mixes blues and electronics and synthesizers in a way I have never heard before. It begins very electronic but becomes very bluesy and mesmerizing with some cool slide guitar. An amazing new band! Wow...
