Motherjane - "Insane Biography"

I have to say this is the first rock band I have ever heard from India. The band is a five piece of lead vocals, twin lead guitars, bass and drums. The singer, Suraj, has a special voice. Despite the band existing since 1996, this is the bands debut CD. You can imagine how difficult it must be to make this kind of music in a country like India, which has little history of rock music. While the bands web site hype the band as the greatest thing to hit rock music, I am sad to say that while the musicians play very competently, few influences from their countries music and culture filter into the bands sound. They come across as a pretty average melodic progressive heavy rock band. The lead guitar wants to sound like Yngwie or Lars Erik Mattsson but does not really pull it off. My advice for them is to try to forget trying to copy sounds like Queensryche, etc and bring in the influences from your culture and past to lead the way. Sorry guys, I hear nothing new in what you do. Please try again.
