Schenker-Pattison Summit - "The Endless Jam"
(Shrapnel Records 2004, SH-11692)

If only the title was realistic. It is a great line up of players with Aynsley Dunbar on drums, Gunter Nezhoda on bass, Michael Schenker on guitar and Davey Pattison on vocals and special guest Leslie West! The band run through a string of cover songs including Hey Joe, The Stealer, A Whiter Shade Of Pale, Long Misty Nights, Shapes Of Things, Voyager, Build For Comfort, I Got The Fire and two Mountain songs, Never In My Life and Theme From An Imaginary Western. It is hardly a jam session when the entire rhythm guitar is recorded in one studio, the lead guitar in another, the bass in another, etc. I would appreciate this CD a lot more if it was a jam session and everyone just hooked up and jammed and they recorded it. Capture the raw energy of the musicians. This CD does not do that. The solos are all too perfect and the sound over produced. The record is a dream for Michael Schenker fans as Michael plays a ton of lead guitar and can let it rip. The only song that really struck me was The Stealer by Free. If you are a Schenker fan, then you must hear this as Michael is in top form.
