Electric Orange - Fleischwerk
(Sulatron Records st0803)
Sulatron has re-released this on CD now as the limited edition vinyl of 300 copies has long been sold out. It was originally released in 2005. It features an additional 4 pieces of music recorded in 2008 (I think), two quite short under 2 minutes and two long pieces 12 and 19 minutes each, making the total length 79 minutes now. I should also say they have completely changed the order of the tracks except the short opening synth piece Trommelfleisch is still the starting piece. Koodu begins the trip and has a great groove before heading out into Pink Floyd like space. Sonnebart is a very dreamy piece as well and very spacey. Track 7, Gewächs is the real stand out track on the record with its really cool electronic groove and organ. Spaced. Schrasng at nearly 13 minutes ends what would be the normal record and this is a strange track. After the short Jubiläton we head into the bonus track Sakral (12½ minutes) and is very slow and spacey and for stoned people. Not a lot happening just hanging out in the space place. Trommelgemüse is a strange interlude piece that leads into the 25 minute closer Fleishczusatz (only listed as 19:36 on the CD). A slow organ drone and groove takes the track off into cool places but then the band needs a joint break or something as the track-jam goes strange… the bass, guitar and groove do return and what an ending. Great bonus track if you are patient. Overall, this is one of the more experimental and less like Kraut rock groove stuff that the band has made recently. Some of it is quite strange and very special but still really cool. Enjoy.
