Seven that Spells- Cosmoerotic Dialoque with Lucifer
(Beta Lactam Ring Records)
From Aural Innovations May 2009 update
This is the latest release by this amazing Croatian band and it features Kawabata Makoto from Acid Mothers Temple (right channel). The CD features 6 tracks and begins with Cosmoerotic Giveway, which I am no so sure is great music to have sex to but it will fry your brain, that is certain. Two fucking maniac guitars, one in each ear is almost too much but this track is short, just over 3 minutes. Stara Planina (slight return) is a 17 minute track that starts really spacey and has some female vocals as well but it is not long before the heavy guitar riffs and psychedelic freak guitar takes you to a different planet for about 9 minutes before returning to the same beautiful melodic music that started this spacey piece and it finally returns with 3 minutes of cosmic freakout. Return of the Captain Beefstake’s Love Apparatus is another far out one. Nico’s guitar matched with Kawabata is something to fear. Sometimes I wonder if some of this stuff was recorded in complete isolation without one hearing the other, just for that extra disconnected effect. I guess I don’t really get it. It is just too far out for me. Very psychedelic stuff though. Space of Eights is a short 2 minute very fast paced cosmic rocker. Cookies and Milk begins very spacey like a Spacious Mind track, before… you know, freakouts out… The CD ends with the 14 minute torture Vessel from the Triangle World. It starts off quite spacey with some glissando guitar and droney synth as the track slowly builds up and takes form. Far out stuff. Fans of AMT will dig this but it is probably my least favourite and the least listenable of all the Seven that Spells albums. Enjoy..
