The Solid - Arrivals and Departures
(Solid Rocks Publishing 2009)

From Aural Innovations October 2009 update

This is a sort of all star band with people from a bunch of different groups and headed by vocalist, Brian Hagman from the Denver band, Black Lamb. On bass they have Greg Randolph from Greenhouse effect, on drums they have rock chick Clem from Zepparella/Bottom and on guitar, Justin Caucutt. Seems they all live in San Francisco these days. The EP is 20 minutes long and features 5 songs. Blues for the Rapure starts things off and sounds like a more bluesy Cult song. Brian is like a cross between Ian Ashbury and Glenn Danzig. Good mixture. The Rich Girl and the Ranch Hand changes the mood and is just a good rock song with a heavy riff and also some short lead guitar bursts here and there. M.A.B.E.L. is next and slows things down with a nice groove and guitar playing. Hopp (Earring) is next and the groove changes to something a bit darker, more stoner rock inspired. Cool track. The EP ends with Hot Rocks (and Green Grass) which has an Aerosmith like main guitar riff, at least that is what it reminds me of and then the track turns into something quite different in the middle and comes back. Another solid track. This new band is very promising and has 5 great songs to give them a solid start.
