Earthlab- Live at Sonic Rock Solstice (Earthlab 2009)

This is a private press DVD-R of the Earthlab concert from the Sonic Rock Solstice in Wales from 2009. For those who don’t know, Earthlab is the band formed by former Hawkwind guitarist Jerry Richards. Here you find the band playing a lot of new material which reminds me a lot of Bernie Torme’s material from the early 80’s and also includes some ripping guitar solos. While it was filmed with several cameras and you can see the band having a great time, the audio is really lacking. It was recorded from the back of a tent. I would have to say that I can only recommend this to real die hard Jerry Richard fans. The DVD is all original material and no cover songs. Jerry really shines though and is backed up by Alf hardy on Synths, Robin Hill on Drums and Barry Jones on Bass. The video editing is very nice though, not those really fast changes. Good use of split screen, some effects but not overdone. If you are a fan of Earthlab or Jerry Richards, pick this one up.
