Pictorial Wand is a project lead by Mattis Sorum who recorded, produced and played all the guitars, bass, synthesizers, organ and percussion. Tomas plays the drums and he has several guests on string instruments and 4 different singers. This is a very moody record with some great male and female vocals. There are a lot of cool elements in many of the songs and in general it is a less challenging and more laid back record than many of the bands on Unicorn Digital. I am not very fond of the sound production though. It is just so thin and digital or something. It really lacks depth and this really takes away from the great music that is presented. There are 7 tracks in 67 minutes. It is still a very interesting CD from a lyrical and melodic prog point of view and a bit too mainstream for my tastes.
