The Heads - "Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere"
(Sweet Nothing Records 2000)

From Aural Innovations #15 (April 2001)

Well, it took the band 4 years to come up with a new studio LP and wow. The band were not silent during this time, releasing a number of split singles and 10" Eps and CD-Eps and 7 inches. The band even did a small tour of the US last year. As for the music, well, lets say maximum fuzz and low fi distorted rock from hell. The double vinyl gatefold version of the CD is really cool. Most of the tracks here were recorded on 8 tracks and some on 4 tracks. The sound is very raw. Sometimes too raw as the drum sound is really poor on the 4 track recordings. This is for sure some of the heaviest psychedelic guitar rock I have heard in a while and plenty of far out jamming. My main complaint in all the heavy fuzz is that the band play really cool stuff but don't write very memorable songs. There are some really great spaced out songs on this CD that I really like, but it is a difficult CD to listen to all the way through at one sitting. Get really stoned I guess. Live they must kick some ass.
