Bret Hart / InstrumenTales
(Reviews/Interview)

by Jerry Kranitz

From Aural Innovations #16 (June 2001)

Slowly but surely I've been discovering the longtime movers and shakers of the independent music world. For years Bret Hart has been making music that runs the gamut from radio friendly to adventurous, including toe-tapping songs and experimental guitar workouts, and making it available on the labels he's run over the years. Having heard some of the more recent projects Bret has been involved in, and some of the other InstrumenTales artists, I was struck by the variety of music and styles, and, as is so common in the homemade music world, includes collaborations with several other musicians we've covered in Aural Innovations.

Below you'll find links to reviews of some recordings on Bret's InstrumenTales label, an interview with Bret, and an article by Bret describing some of his homemade instruments. So read on! Followers of the indie world and adventurous musicians will find lots of great info here. So when you're done be sure to follow the links to Bret's pages where you'll find more information on obtaining his music.
