Circle is playing in Glasgow on the 6th of December and would like to play additional UK gigs at that time. If you would like to book this amazing band you should contact Jussi Lehtisalo at ektro@verkkotieto.fi.
And speaking of Circle... Ektro Records now has their own domain at http://www.ektrorecords.com. Ektro Records is run by the multi-talented Jussi Lehtisal of Circle, Ektroverde and other projects. The label has releases by his own and other avant-rock bands from Finland. Lots of mp3's and RealAudio sound files are available to hear what the label is about. Jussi's bands are among the most frequently written about in Aural Innovations.
Slutfish Records too finally have a web presence at http://www.slutfishrecords.com. Slutfish is home to the amazing JFK Jr Royal Airforce, the prolific Billy Syndrome, and... The Geeky Dorks! There more there of course including loads of Billy's cool comix. Check it out.
Gong News: GILLI SMYTH: IT'S ALL A DREAM (Gliss CD006), Copies of Gilli's great new CD have finally arrived at GAS. An exclusive GAS release and available in the Kasbah on the Planetgong website right now.
MIKE HOWLETT, The deity-like genius of Mike Howlett is acknowledged in the June
issue of the UK music magazine Mojo as one of 100 'Sonic Pioneers'. He is amongst such august company as Phil Spector, Lee Perry, etc.
GONG DVD?, Snapper Music, producers of both Zero and Live to Infinity are deciding whether to take up their option to release a Gong DVD of the 'Zero 2 Infinity' CD launch gig/party at the Subterranean last April.
GONG JAPANESE 'MINI LP' CDs, I finally got round to listening to the recent, exquisitely packaged, but oh so expensive, Japanese mini LP sleeved Gong CDs. Although they proclaim '20-bit mastering' on the front cover strip or 'obi' I have to say that the sound quality is noticeably not as good as that other CD releases of the same albums. The levels have been boosted and the CDs are 'brighter' in sound, but oh that hiss...

Strange Trips will be doing a US Tour this October with Harvey Bainbridge and
Mr. Quimby's Beard from Sunderland, England. A larger than normal indoor show
somewhere in the Cleveland area will be scheduled to take the place of the
outdoor Strange Daze Festival that we have held over the past 4 years.
Jim Lascko caught a Mr. Quimby's Beard show when he was in England and they are
absolutely killer live! A full, beautiful, sound with lots and lots of mushroom magic in it. They bridge the gap between Hawkwind and Ozric Tentacles (most certainly influenced by them and many others) but with their very own original music and unique style. They were extremly powerful with a nice variety in their set and the crowd really seemed to love them. Certainly
one of the freshest and strongest acts I have seen in a long, long, time!
Below is some information on our recent Strange Recordings releases. These
are all good strong recordings from board DAT, pumped up and made to flow
with nice artwork. I believe most fans who hear them will be pretty pleased
with what they are - good live performances at a reasonable cost.
Harvey Bainbridge Live 2000 - about 70 minutes of music recorded from last
year's Strange Trips Traveling OuterSpace Spectacular US Tour and Strange
Daze 2000. Track listing is: Strange Daze Intro, Black Hole, Lost, Free Fall,
Mutation Zone, DNA Lounge, Adrift, Who's to Say, Turn On (The Light), S.O.S.,
and Just Say Know.
Anubian Lights Live '99 - about 70 minutes of music recorded in Cleveland,
Ohio at The Symposium. Track listing is: Information, Baghdad Thanks You,
Mars, As Seen in 872 AD, One Eye to the Sky, The Fire Breathes, with Nik
joining them to do Dragon Rider and Soul Herder.
Farflung Live w/ Nik Turner @ Strange Daze '99 - about 70 minutes of music
recorded at SD'99. Track listing: I don't know the names of the first 5
Farflung songs (few lyrics, reminds me of a heavy sound - kind of like some
of the early Black Sabbath) and Nik joins them at the end of their set for a
rousing Sonic Attack, Brainstorm, Watching the Grass Grow, Opa Loka, and
Shouldn't Do That.

This from Bret Hart: Dick Metcalf is hosting a webzine that I edit - GuitArt, through his fine Improvijazzation Nation / The Improvisor web-effort.
