Pilotos - Demo 2001 (Sweden)
From Aural Innovations #17 (September 2001)
This is a 4 track demo recorded in July 2001 by another Swedish groove-stoner band. Man, they have a million bands. 'Saved A Seat For You' starts off with some nice piano bar stuff and then the Kyuss influenced riff hits you, then they forget it and get in to their own groove. They write some pretty decent songs but again, they need to find someone who can really sing. I think these deep husky untrained voices just don't cut it. 'It's Gonna Be Ok' and 'Be With You' are hard driving rock and roll with decent riffs. I liked the middle break in 'It's Gonna Be Ok'. Nothing really makes these songs stand out though. The Demo ends with 'Dead Serious Woman' which totally takes you by surprise with the organ jam and great bass playing. Then the heavy Black Sabbath inspired riff hits you. Not a bad demo, but I think this young band have a way to go yet.
