Minds Eye - "Promo 2002" (self-released 2002)

I had previously reviewed another promo CD by Marco Da Rold from Milan, Italy and was not that impressed. The bio describes the music as ambient electronica with some hip hop beats. This CD contains 6 tracks. I have to say that the opening track on this CD is really great stuff. It is a dancy track but with a great groove and some nice heavy guitar. Toward the end it fades into a dark ambient tone. The next track is nearly pure ambient electronica with some beats. Quite a nice chill out track. Track 3 I really liked a lot as well. A really nice ambient chill out groove with cool but not overused beats, but really catchy but spaced out enough for me. The next track begins with the beats overwhelming the soundscape as cool electronics are layered deep in the background and slowly fades in and out of this arrangement. The last track features acoustic guitar, totally unique for this release, and very different from all the others. You should check out the web site.
