Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. - "Born to Be Wild in the USA 2000" (Wabana Records 2005, ORE39)

From Aural Innovations #31 (June 2005)

Another in Wabana's reissue series of live tapes, this one a re-mastered edition of the Acid Mothers Temple live in the United States in 2000. The varying sound quality seems to indicate that these tracks were taken from different shows and different sources. What we get here is a slightly tinny but quite clear version of Acid Tokion, with a nice spacey intro and a ripping middle section... a very heavy, but quite unfortunately muddy sounding version of La Novia, an again somewhat muddy and distorted version of the otherwise lovely Pink Lady Lemonade, a mind bending version of Speed Guru, which has varying sound quality, clear in some parts, quite muddy in others, and a reasonably clear but very brief recording of God Bless AMT, basically just a bit of electronics, distorted guitar and yelling for less than two minutes.

I haven't heard much in the way of live documents of the band from this era, definitely their golden age, as it were, so it's hard for me to compare and say whether this is essential or not. All in all, this may be something for the AMT completists, but not the place to start with the band.
