Everything Is Fine - "Ghosts Are Knocking On Walls"
(Tract Records 2005, TR031)
From Aural Innovations #32 (November 2005)
Everything is Fine is a project of singer and multi-instrumentalist Marc Manning teamed up with guitarist Geoff Matis. Together the two create very atmospheric music. Some of the tracks are very simple with mostly just guitar and voice with a simple bass line and the dreamy voice. For the most part, the music imparts a feeling of happiness. My favorite track, a slightly more noisy rock tune called Today is the Day, was really good at building up like God Speed You Black Emperor type stuff. DB Cooper shows a more spaced out side of the band as it starts and builds to a crescendo before slipping down into a more quiet tone. The CD ends with a short lo-fi echoed acoustic vocal piece. While Marc could sell himself off in the world of pop dreamy music, he does what he wants and experiments and this effort proves a great success.
