Nixon Now - "Altamont Nation Express"
(Elektrohasch Records 2005, 109)

From Aural Innovations #33 (March 2006)

The German band, Nixon Now, has been around for 10 years now and this is their second full length CD. I have never heard them before but I have to say this CD really kicked my ass! 15 tracks of high energy Detroit 1969-71 sound in 40 minutes. This includes two cover songs, the first being a slightly faster version of "The Rocker" by Thin Lizzy as well as "Car Wash", which is performed in a way that would make The HEADs very happy. "Car Wash" is probably the most psyched out song on the CD as well. "Burn Down the Neighborhood" is very Stooges inspired and a killer track. There is also some funny stuff with songs like "I Live in a Car" and "Brian Jones". The CD ends with "Electric Teenage Nürnberg", showing that the band wants to end the CD in heavy, fast and psyched out fashion. Excellent release.
