The Finnish band, Mannhai, is back with their fourth CD. I really thought their last CD, Exploder, in 2004, was the best the band had ever made, with a lot of variety and cool rock and stoner grooves and a bit psychedelic. Here the band has gone for a more straightforward riffing stoner rock and roll. They also have a new vocalist, Pasi from the Finnish metal band Amorphis, on board. He is an excellent singer but not good enough to carry this record, which I think is a bit of a let down from the last record. Damnbuster is quite an Amorphis influenced track as well. There are some excellent tracks like the Nebula inspired Spaceball and the closer, Downer, but just not as much variety as on the previous record. Still pretty damn cool stuff though.
