Griftegård- Psalm BOK EP
(Nachtgnosis Nacht003)
From Aural Innovations #38 (Jan 2008)
This Swedish band has been around since 2004 but has not released much. They feature a couple of ex- Doomsday Cult members, a guy from Marduk and a lead singer (Thomas). This vinyl only EP is just two long tracks of funeral DOOM music. Slow, religious and heavy. Printed in 500 hand numbered copies. Both songs are about different people. The A side is called Charles Taze Russell and plays on 33RPM. Slow, heavy and dark… A lot of people might think this is playing at the wrong speed. The track does not really develop that much compared to the excellent B side. The B-side plays on 45RPM and is the one song called Paul Gustav Dore, a very slow and heavy track with understandable vocals. Not a lot happens in this music, you are suppose to just get sucked into it’s darkness. As the track moves on it slowly becomes a bit melodic and has some dual guitar parts that are quite nice. It will be interesting to hear more by this band.
