Burn your Fingers on the Sun Compilation
(Off the Hip Records OTH7052)
From Aural Innovations #39 (May 2008)
This is a two CD compilation featuring bands from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide
in Australia. The Sand Pebbles is the only band that I have heard of…
This is not a pop compilation (or I would never review it) but what I would
say is more alterative psychedelia, shoegazer, and stuff like that. Most of
these tracks are previously released elsewhere but a few bands (The Laurels,
The Years, Starstream, The Sun Blindness, and The Unheard) all have given never
released before tracks for the compilation… It is nice to see that some
of the bands can also have longer tracks over 6 mins and were not forced to
put in a 3½ minute song. A great vibe on this compilation and really
well put together with a cool variety of just good non-commerical pop rock songs.
If you want to see what is happening down under in the alternative music scene,
this is well worth checking out..
