La Fleur Fatale- Night Generation
(Killer Cobra Records)
From Aural Innovations #39 (May 2008)
I had never heard of this band but you get 13 tracks in 53 minutes of light
psychedelic pop rock music. The band is from Sweden and have been around for
like 10 years despite this being the debut CD. They play very melodic music
and will remind people of other bands like Dungen, Life on Earth, and Brimestone
Solar Radiation Band. They do have a quite cool 60’s sound at times with
that organ and the way they use the slide guitar. The sound is a bit too slick
for me though. I want to be Adored is a cool acoustic guitar lead track and
quite beautiful. Very well thought out songs. Children of Neon Lights is an
uptempo piano rock track with some flute and is quite Beatles inspired. Sunshine
Underground is again a bit faster but is really lead by the organ and I like
the way the drum tempos are played and used and great bass playing in this one.
Swift Flash of Mind is one of my favorite tracks on the CD. Golden Hair, I had
wondering if this was the Syd Barrett song or not but it is far too normal…ha…
Queen of Tears features a really cool electric guitar riff that really cuts
through the sound and they develop this one into a track to be proud of. The
CD ends with Seven Years (listed as 9 minutes but the song ends at about 4 minutes and
then there is 3 minutes or so of silence and then a very sad song is sung). Cool
but not that psychedelic.
