Märvel- Thunderblood Heart
(Killer Cobra Records)
From Aural Innovations #39 (May 2008)
Power metal trio hails from Linkoping, Sweden. 'Thunderblood Heart' is their
second CD. Each band member goes by an alias, of which is John Steen (aka Vocalo)
- guitar & vocals, Ulrik Bostedt (aka Animalizer) - bass and Tony Samuelsson
(aka Ambassador) - drums. Some would likely tag this disc as Swedish pop metal.
The comic book-like appearance of the CD cover might indicate that this metal
trio isn't meant to be taken too seriously - just more fun to experience than
anything else. I would suggest that you check out their MySpace page, as it's got
a couple of decent videos. Guess Marvel's music is meant to be accompanied by
visual(s). Tracks here that I liked best were "I Wanna Know You (Just A
Little Bit Better)" - check out the video for the song, the catchy "So
Good Together", the total ass-kicking "Girl, Where's My Amulet?"
- possibly the CD's best cut altogether, the rocker "Code Of The Road"
and "Wilful Now Participation" (loved those Kiss-like guitar riffs).
I would imagine these guys would be generally an amusing gig to catch live in
a club. I'm only second guessing here, but this title could possibly appeal
to fans of Manowar, Thor, Raven, Kik Tracee (anyone remember them?) and perhaps
Scatterbrain. Noticed the playing side of the CD is blood red in color. Are
they trying to tell us something?
