Good - "Fanatic"
(Good Guy Music 2008)
From Aural Innovations #40 (September 2008)
This is for sure the strangest CD I have reviewed in some months, and I hear a lot of music. Is that a compliment? This is a solo project by a guy from Texas and it is dedicated to his wife. The CD starts with Global Warming which is an insane mix of a lot of different things and instruments and sounds going wild. Impossible to describe but somehow it works. Twist of Fate has a very twisted sound as well. It features Thomas Ayresol on Drums. There is a sort of song going on underneath the layers that are highly manipulated. Far out. Fanatics Arise is a long track at 8 minutes. What a trip it is. Music meant to fuck
with your mind. Political Inaction Committee is something completely different, with a more industrial electronica like sound. Depth Perception features some
wild sax playing while a heavy industrial beat drags the track long and of course multiple layers of strange and highly manipulated sounds. Far out. Exponential Population Curve is a short 1 min piece of madness that leads into the closer, Outsane. This is perhaps the most mainstream of all the tracks on
the CD with a strong melodic string run through the music, while still remaining very far out. Bizarre music... but great.
