WHEN'S THE FUTURE - "Now"
This charming little ep is a 'sampler' of the goodies to come, probably by
the time this review sees the light of day, the album will be out! Anyways,
here's four tracks, alternative versions of these tracks are to appear on
the album, and I hope they're as good as these. I know it's an awful thing
to compare, but I really do believe that if Gong had have kept going with
Hillage and the Flying Teapots were still airborne, this would probably be
Radio Gnome part eight. Cop Out Dood kicks off the ep in fine style, and
then we dive headlong into the forests of ganja with My Giddy Aunt (who's
also a fan of the more spaced out Hawkwind). Alien percussion and strange
metallic outbursts announce the beginning of Slow Motion - a classic Kromlek
song of ever there was one. A slow burning melody with hypnotic guitars
build and build, then it all begins again. Superbly sexy. Go East n Feast
concludes this brief affair with, yes you've guessed it, Eastern sounding
instruments, birdsong and a dreamy time is had by all. This ep is not too
disimilar to having one mouthful of a dish you know is just around the
corner - my appetite is whetted.
