NEON 08 - Nuclear Sun CD Single
Sounding like a space-rock version of The Police with a more menacing vocal, this band have produced a driving swirl of a track with a brooding presence, some solid lead guitar work and thunderous bass as the arrangement burns a laser-precise hole in your skull and has you humming the chorus whether you like it or not! The second track is a different mix complete with more of a brooding feel, as the bass thuds and the guitar are altogether more intense, this time the chorus more of a co-star to the more determined lead vocal and bass-driven arrangement. Personally, I prefer this to the first one as it just feels stronger and more powerful. Third track seems to be another mix of the thing - this time the guitars have more of a chiming feel to it, the arrangement altogether more expansive, less overtly intense than the second one, not as commercial as the first one, yet it's got a certain charm that the other two didn't have and, for that reason alone, is worth another hearing. There's still a touch of Andy Summers guitar in there but this time there's more of it and the track really comes to life, sounding even more eighties styled than the first version. Overall, may sound a tad self-indulgent, but it's a good track, it's catchy and they, amazingly, manage to make 3 versions strung together, sound positively palatable.
