The Rabbit's Hat - "The Magician"

Now, with any other act I would expect standards to fall due to the sheer prolificacy, but this band are so talented that they keep on getting better. I have made much in the past about how well the vocals of Tim Jones and Terri~B work together so I won't mention it in this review, but what I have failed to mention previously is just how good a guitarist Tim is. He excels as he covers the full range from fine acoustic work through to pulsating soloing and he could certainly teach a few more well known names a trick or two.

At all times the key word is melody as songwriting is one of the major reasons why this band are so good. They have the knack of mixing catchy tunes with provoking lyrics and yet add an extra dimension with a slightly quirky nature to their delivery. They are also unafraid to upset the apple cart by throwing in the odd song that is alien to all that has gone before it. In a world where progressive bands are dismissed for being regressive (Genesis clones etc) The Rabbit's Hat really break the mould as they stretch music barriers further than any act I know of. Highlights are too many to mention but praise must go to "Ignorance Is Bliss" which kicks off the album and is a perfect example of the guitar work of Tim Jones, "Dying Without The Music" which is as delightful a song as the band have written and the title track with magical spoken vocals that really shows what they are all about. Keep up the good work and keep pushing back the boundaries.
